Legitimate uses: when consent is not the right answer
The Act has a closed list of situations where consent is not required. Here is how to use it responsibly.
Section 7 lists specific situations - for example data voluntarily provided for a specified purpose where the person does not object, certain employment purposes, legal obligations and medical emergencies - in which processing is allowed without consent.
Using it well
- Pick the exact clause for each activity.
- Record it in your inventory.
- Do not stretch a clause to cover marketing.
- Still give clear information and honour rights.
